§ 01 — Why it exists

Good businesses
with quiet websites.

We meet brilliant founders every month whose websites do not reflect the quality of their work. The Grant is our way of fixing one of them, in public, each month.

I. — The observation

Most small businesses we speak to have either no website at all, a dated template, or something cobbled together years ago. The work they do is often excellent. The first impression online almost never matches it.

II. — The leverage

A thoughtfully designed site changes how a business is perceived. It shortens sales cycles, raises prices, attracts better clients and quietly compounds for years. The right site at the right moment is high-leverage.

III. — The initiative

The Grant is not charity and it is not a giveaway. It is a monthly commission, chosen on merit, that lets us back one project we believe in while publishing it as a case study for the rest of the studio's audience.

§ 02 — How it works

Four steps.
One laureate.

A simple, honest process. Apply in minutes, one winner per month, live site in roughly three weeks from kick-off.

  1. Step 01
    Apply in minutes

A short form, no attachments required. Tell us what you do, what you need, and why now.

  2. Step 02
    We review

Every submission is read by the studio team. We shortlist on merit, not on subscriber count or urgency of language.

  3. Step 03
    One is selected

We contact the chosen recipient, confirm scope and schedule a kick-off call. Everyone else is thanked personally.

  4. Step 04
    Built, launched, shared

We design, build and launch the site within ~21 days, then publish a case study the whole studio audience sees.

§ 03 — What the recipient receives

A site worth
shipping.

The scope is real and deliberate. Controlled enough to ship in three weeks, generous enough to genuinely move the needle.

  • I.
Custom marketing site or landing page

Designed from scratch to match your brand, not cut from a template. Art-directed by the studio team.

  • II.
    Essential launch-ready pages

Typically 4–6 pages: home, services, about, contact, plus any critical supporting sections for your case.

  • III.
    Conversion-first structure

Copywriting, layout, hierarchy and calls-to-action engineered around the one or two outcomes you care about most.

  • IV.
    Enquiry & contact form

Wired to your inbox, with a polite auto-acknowledgement and sensible spam protection out of the box.

  • V.
    Mobile, performance & SEO foundations

Responsive build, Core Web Vitals in the green, structured metadata, sitemap and robots ready for indexing.

  • VI.
    Launch on Cloudflare edge

Deployed on the same global infrastructure our paying clients run on. Your domain is connected at launch.

  • VII.
    A guided launch handover

A short call and a simple written guide on what to do next — how to update copy, grow, measure and evolve.

§ 04 — Who should apply

Ambitious
quiet contenders.

If you are building something real and the right website would meaningfully change what happens next, we want to read your application.

Small businesses & local services

Plumbers, clinics, cafés, studios, consultants — anyone whose craft deserves a better first impression online.

Founders & startups

Early-stage builders with a real product, a clear problem and a site that is not yet doing the work.

Creators & personal brands

Writers, photographers, designers, musicians and educators whose current page does not match the craft.

Nonprofits & meaningful projects

Community initiatives, research, educational resources and small charities where a good site has outsized impact.

⟶ Applications from outside Ireland are welcome. Projects must be real and operated by the applicant.
§ 05 — Selection principles

Judged, not
drawn.

Every application is read by the Webs.ie team. We weigh five things — consistently, and in conversation.

01
Clarity

Can we quickly see what you do, who it is for, and why it exists?

02
Timing

Why does a better website matter for you specifically now, not in the abstract?

03
Potential

Would a strong site meaningfully change growth, trust or operations for this project?

04
Story

Is the project useful, honest, kind, interesting or otherwise worth publishing about?

05
Fit

Can we do a great job within the grant scope with the materials and input you will provide?

§ 06 — Apply

Apply for
04 / 2026.

Roughly five minutes to complete. Thoughtful answers read better than long ones. Write as if to a person, not an algorithm.

⟶ Application form · April 2026 Closes 30 April 2026
We reply to every applicant within 7 days of the deadline.
§ 07 — Questions, answered

Frequently
asked.

If your question is not here, write to [email protected]. We reply personally.

01. Is this really free?
+
Yes. The selected recipient pays nothing for the work described in §03. No hidden fees, no deposit, no upsell and no obligation. Optional extras can be quoted separately at standard studio rates, and only if the recipient actively wants them.
02. Is this a lottery or prize draw?
+
No. The Grant is a merit-based commissioning decision made by the Webs.ie team after reading each application. No purchase, payment or chance is involved. Selection is based on clarity, timing, potential, story and fit — the five principles in §05. See the Grant Terms for the full legal framing.
03. Who can apply?
+
Anyone eighteen or over, representing a real and lawful business, startup, creator, nonprofit or meaningful project. Employees, contractors and immediate family members of the Studio are not eligible. One application per business per month. Full eligibility rules are in §3 of the Grant Terms.
04. What kind of website is included?
+
A custom-designed marketing site or landing page (typically 4–6 pages), built responsively, launched on Cloudflare, with an enquiry form, baseline SEO and a guided handover. See §03 above and §5 of the Grant Terms for the full scope.
05. How is the winner selected?
+
Every application is read by the Webs.ie team. We shortlist on clarity, timing, potential, story and fit. It is a judged selection, not a random draw. The Studio's decision is final and is not reviewable per applicant.
06. How will I know if I have been selected?
+
We email the Laureate directly, using the address supplied in the application, after the monthly deadline closes. Everyone else receives a personal, thoughtful reply. We also publish each month's Laureate on this page and announce them on our social channels.
07. What if I am selected but cannot respond in time?
+
You have seven days to acknowledge the offer. If we do not hear back we may forfeit the Grant and offer it to another applicant. If real-life happens and you need a little more time, just tell us — we are reasonable people.
08. Can I apply again if I am not chosen?
+
Yes, any month you like. Many strong candidates are selected on a second or third application as their project evolves. We recommend refreshing your answers rather than resubmitting the same text.
09. Do I need to be based in Ireland?
+
No. Applications are open worldwide. We give a slight preference to Irish and EU-based projects because that is where we work most effectively, but we have no geographic exclusion. Everything is delivered in English.
10. Does this include hosting or a domain?
+
The build is deployed on Cloudflare's edge infrastructure and your existing domain is connected at launch. Domain registration, premium third-party services and licensed assets remain your responsibility — usually only a few euros a year.
11. Can ecommerce projects apply?
+
Yes, but the Grant scope is a focused marketing or catalogue site, not a full multi-integration store with payments, stock management and shipping rules. Complex commerce builds are typically beyond the Grant scope and can be quoted separately.
12. Who owns the finished website?
+
You do. On launch you receive a perpetual, worldwide licence to use, display and modify the Deliverables for your business. The Studio retains its underlying frameworks and design system — those are the tools we use on every project — but the finished site is yours.
13. Will you publish a case study about my project?
+
Yes. By accepting the Grant you agree that we may write about it, publish screenshots, share it on social channels and keep it in our portfolio. If there is specific confidential information that must be excluded, just tell us in writing before launch.
14. Will my application be confidential?
+
We do not publish application content for non-selected applicants. We read it, evaluate it, store it securely, and retain it for up to 12 months after the decision. See our Privacy Policy for the details.
15. Is the Grant taxable?
+
Possibly — it depends on your jurisdiction and legal form. Receiving a gifted service may count as a taxable benefit in some countries. We are not tax advisers. If you have any doubt, please check with your own accountant. This does not affect your eligibility.
16. Do you guarantee the website will bring me customers?
+
No, and anyone who does is selling snake oil. A great site radically improves your odds, but outcomes depend on many things — your offer, market, pricing, operations, timing and how you promote it. We promise excellent craft, not guaranteed revenue.
17. Can Webs.ie cancel or change the Grant?
+
Yes. The Studio may update these Terms, change the selection criteria, pause or end the initiative at any time. Changes do not affect Grants that have already been awarded and accepted. See §20 of the Grant Terms.
18. I am in a hurry — can I skip the application and just hire you?
+
Absolutely. If a website is urgent, commission us directly. Our Smart Website ships in seven days, starts at €2,500, and comes with the full studio treatment. See the menu.
§ 08 — One per month

Make it
this month's.

One recipient is selected each calendar month. Selection is a judged review by the Webs.ie team, not a random draw. Submitting an application does not guarantee selection. The final scope of the delivered website is determined together with the recipient after selection and is limited to what can reasonably be delivered within the Grant's schedule. Third-party costs (domain, premium plug-ins, licensed imagery, advertising) are the recipient's responsibility. Personal information provided in the application is handled under our Privacy Policy and retained for twelve months after the decision. The Grant is governed by the Webs.ie Grant Terms. The Studio's decision is final. No cash alternative. The Grant is not transferable and has no monetary value to the recipient other than the services delivered. By submitting you confirm that you are 18 or over and authorised to apply on behalf of the named project.
